Please reach me at info@dyslexiaexplored.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Assessments can be carried out at your son/daughter's school (or other appropriate venue). I can travel any reasonable distance to carry out the assessment, please contact me to discuss your needs.
Yes, Dyslexia Explored uses questionnaires to collect information from your son/daughter's school and current teachers. Collecting well-rounded information is an important part of the process. Classroom observations can be incorporated into the assessment in order to gain further information about learning needs.
I currently carry out all of the assessments myself and have over 25 years of teaching experience which I draw upon when carrying out my assessments and writing my reports. Every report is personal.
It offers a comprehensive, personalised outline of an individual's learning profile.
It identifies an individual's strengths and areas of difficulty.
It offers recommendations for support (at home, at school and in the future).
The assessment report will still highlight a learner's strengths and areas of difficulty. It will build a personalised learning profile which can be used to support a learner with the difficulties that they are facing. It can also signpost further specialist assessment if needed.
Yes, there are circumstances where I cannot carry out an assessment (e.g. if a visual screening tool highlights that visual difficulties are present, a separate visual assessment will need to be carried out first). There are other specific reasons where a dyslexia assessment may not be appropriate, but please contact me to discuss your circumstances so that we can plan next steps together.
